Experienced Help For Real Estate Law

Real estate transactions are risky business, whether it's a first-time buyer purchasing a home or an experienced developer completing a complicated land deal. The amounts of money involved are huge, and the costs of anything going wrong can be disastrous.

For these and other reasons, real estate is governed by a complicated web of laws and legal requirements. Navigating them requires exacting work from a knowledgeable lawyer.

I am an attorney with decades of experience, and I have helped many clients from all walks of life resolve their issues and make sure their real estate transactions are solid and their investments are secure. With my firm, The Law Office of Jan Dewoody Scussel, in Batesville, Arkansas, I help buyers, sellers, investors and other clients in commercial and residential real estate with issues such as:

  • Sales contracts
  • Searching titles
  • Title opinions
  • Deeds
  • Liens
  • Inheritance rights
  • Divorce and real estate
  • Eviction
  • Landlord-tenant law

Why Use A Lawyer?

Many people who are buying or selling a home do so through a real estate broker. When they do so, they usually must pay a commission. Real estate agents usually work for the seller, and they are paid with a commission on the sale.

I don't work for a particular real estate firm or title company; I work for my clients. I help them make sure their paperwork is correct, their titles are clean and there are no outstanding liens or other problems. I charge reasonable rates and do not work on commission, so I do not have an incentive to rush a transaction through before it is legally sound.

Much of my work entails title searches and deed research. I used to work for a title company, where I had experience with commercial and residential real estate, including oil and gas deeds.
